Riverhead Vision 2020

1921 Roanoke Avenue, Riverhead, NY 11901
Riverhead Vision 2020's purpose is to develop ways to involve a broad based constituency in a series of study circles and community forums in order to create a shared vision of a healthy, prosperous Riverhead. By participating in these dialogues, citizens learn that they have a real opportunity to effect change on issues they care about. A study circle is a small-group discussion in which an issue is examined from many perspectives, enriched by its participants' knowledge and experiences, and informed by expert information and discussion materials.

The forums provide ways to learn of people's concerns for their community and to record and compile their ideas. At a Vision Fair in the fall, these concerns and ideas would be used to establish priorities and decide which projects to pursue. The idea is to build upon that strong strain of civic involvement that a town constantly draws on to ensure its vitality, such as PTO's, church groups, service organizations, and neighborhood associations.
