Empire State Association of Adult Homes and Assisted Living Facilities

The only association that solely represents proprietary and non-profit adult homes/assisted living residences. It is recognized by government as the voice of assisted living providers. It has been instrumental in effecting regulatory and inspection process reforms. It has lobbied successfully to create Medicaid revenue sources for home care/assisted living services, and to secure the Quality Incentive Program (QUIP) an operator subsidy for adult home residents in receipt of Supplemental Security Income (SSI). It is the state affiliate for the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), the national association that effectively represents assisted living interests on the federal level.

Seminar Series: Professional consultants provide seminars to membership on a range of topics including: "Comprehensive Review/State of the Art for Adult Home Operators of facilities 40 Beds or Fewer", "Creating a Strategic Plan for Individual Adult Homes/Assisted Living", "Operating a Licensed/Limited Home Care Services Agency", and "Marketing Your Adult Home in a Changing Health Care World". Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP)

This program is funded through the Suffolk County Office for the Aging and administered for the Town of Southampton by the Dominican Sisters Family Health Service. Services provided through EISEP include case management and the services of a home worker which include light housekeeping and other non-medical assistance. Volunteers also assist in carrying out this program.

Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation

Since its creation in 1988, LIAF has served as a lifeline to the more than 120,000 families in Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn and Queens caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's. LIAF receives approximately 300 requests for information each month.
