Center for Prenatal Care at Greenport (The)

Prenatal center affiliated with Southampton Hospital. Care with be provided by nurse practitioners , and services will be provided directly by the collaborating physicians at least twice during pregnancy, and childbirth will be assisted by one of four physicians. Delivery of baby will be accommodated by Southampton Hospital.

Consideration and respect will be given to cultural and religious backgrounds. All medical and social needs will be addressed and referrals made when appropriate. Southampton Hospital will provide access to social workers, nutritionists and associated health care providers.

A nurse practitioner who has access to an obstetrician and all resources of Southampton Hospital is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Translation services are available.

Through our affiliation with Southampton Hospital, patients can also participate in New Beginnings Maternity Education Program. This program offers a series of educational classes to help prepare pregnant women and members of their families for this exciting time. The following classes are offered: Early Pregnancy, Baby Care Basics, Breast-feeding, Baby Safe, VBAC, Sibling Class, GRANDparents Class, Childbirth Preparation (Lamaze) Classes and Beyond Delivery Orientation Class. Tours of Southampton Hospital's patient accommodations, nurseries and other facilities are also provided as part of the New Beginnings program.

Held on the 2nd Wednesday evening and Thursday day of the month at the Old Whaler's Church on Union Street in Sag Harbor. Offer alternative and complementary health services such as chiropractic, acupuncture, counseling, energy healing, massage, nutrition, stress management, CranioSacral Therapy and other types of health care. The Clinic assists people with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. Payment is by donation. A minimum donation of $5.00 is requested.

Health Fairs: Conducts health fairs from Montauk to Southampton featuring health awareness and prevention through screening procedures for adults and adolescents and childhood immunizations. Health care professionals from area hospitals, agencies and private practitioners perform the procedures.

Monthly Screening Programs: Arranged at accessible sights for adults, children and adolescents. Services are free . Blood Pressure Screenings, Mammography Screenings, Prostate Screenings, Immunizations.

Advocacy Activities: Encourage health care providers to assure affordable and accessible health care services to all in our community and; Advocate for the dissemination of health information with special emphasis on prevention. Conferences on health, Dental Education Program, School Health Programs (all schools on the South Fork).
