Peconic Heights Women's Shelter

235 West Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901
10 bed homeless shelter which provides safe emergency housing with supportive and full case management services for women and their children. The primary goal is to help women stabilize their lives and go on to independence. Shelter is provided for as long as twenty-seven days for women sixteen or older with no more than one child. Referrals to mental health and substance abuse treatment. In-house groups including parenting, HIV-AIDS education, nutrition.

ELIGIBILITY: Suffolk County residents - single women over age 15 or women with one child who are homeless.
FEES: Eligible for Suffolk County Dept. of Social Services.

PROGRAM INFO
Madonna Heights Services: 151 Burrs Lane, Dix Hills, NY 11746-9020.
This program provides emergency housing with supportive and case management services for homeless women who are single or have children. A major focus of the program is to serve women who are mentally ill, substance abusers or ex-offenders. The primary goal of the program is to help these women stabilize their lives by responding to their needs for emergency housing. The shelter meets these needs by providing food and shelter in a safe, supervised environment. The program also meets needs for clothing, access to medical care, transportation, case management services and assistance in locating permanent housing. Parenting Skills Training is also provided.

Podell Haven

A five bed male and female homeless and runaway youth shelter in the Town of East Hampton. We can house youth between the ages of 10 to 20. Those children 16 to 20 can stay for up to 30 days. While they reside here they will be assisted with long term planning for housing. This may include family mediation, independent living, or other long term housing.

Retreat, The

The Retreat provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence, educates the community about the issue of domestic violence, goes into schools, hospitals and other social service agencies to develop programs that will help end abusive behavior, trains personnel to recognize domestic violence and make appropriate referrals, and works together with the criminal justice system to hold offenders accountable.
